Homework#1
1. Reflecting about today's class:Today we discussed the Japanese concept of "wrapping". Do you agree with the web site's description? What do you do that can be called "wrapping"? Give examples and reasons for your actions.
I agree with the web site's description. When I buy present for someone, I always say to clerk "I want to wrap them, Can you do it?", because I think it seems to be thoughtless if you don not wrap present. I also want to wrap when I buy breakable things. The cleark usually wrap them before I say " Can you wrap it?" in this case. Anyway, I think Japanese tend to wrap anything, for example, flowers, furniture, and more.
2. a. Where do you go when you die?
When I was a child, I heard that people go to heaven or descend into hell after they die. I do not know whether the heaven and hell exists really, but everyone want to go to heaven after they died.
b. Explain why do Japanese have death memorial services 1 month, 1 year, 3 years, 7 years, etc. after a person's death?
Japanese have death memorial services, because people hope that the dead die a peaceful death, and In doing so, we don't forget and care about them forever.
